Obstacles come in all shapes and sizes. What we believe about ourselves is often true even if we don’t want it to be. A big step toward eliminating an obstacle like this is simply identifying it and realizing that it’s there and needs to be dealt with. If you worry about finances, then take a course in this area and improve your skills.
For athletes, there’s usually quite a bit of training that goes into every performance. Some of us are just naturally born with athletic abilities, but others may need to work on things. In addition to training your body, you need to train your mind. What do you really believe about yourself? Be honest. Write down your answers.
We all have negative stories from our past that have shaped our belief system. Try to think back and see whether there are events like this in your past that may have affected your thoughts and beliefs in some area. It may have been while playing football or it could have been something from school.
Sometimes the event is much larger and affects our lives in a more profound way. For instance, you may have been an awkward teenager who struggled with making friends. Perhaps your family moved around a lot and this made it hard for you to develop lasting friendships. People like this often go all the way through their lives believing that they are not very good at making friends. This can prevent them from even reaching out and trying.
Create abundance in your thought life and allow that to spill over into your athletic performance. Remind yourself that you really are an expert in your field. Even if you make mistakes, you’re a winner because you’re working hard and doing your best.
