Manchester United players Michael Carrick and Ashley Young are persuaded that their side did not commit an expensive mistake with the signing of Angel Di Maria.
In August 2014, Di Maria has joined united for £59.7m, quitting Real Madrid. The amount had broken the club’s transfer record. There were signs that this costly transfer would prove to be a good investment.
However, the Argentine international player is showing clear signs of struggles to kick start his united career. A hamstring injury incurred end of 2014 did not make things better. However, Ashley Young has recently stated that it was indeed a clever move to bring Di Maria to the Old Trafford team.
Young has further added that despite the fact that Real Madrid had various top players such as Ronaldo and Bale, Di Maria was the one that stood out the most according to him. He also added that United is already a squad of quality players and adding another player of quality can only be more beneficial to them.
Even though Di Maria has not yet shone on the fields, feedback from his training are quite positive. The team was convinced about his skills during the very first trainings.
Carrick was also among the United players to have praised the skills of Di Maria. He has compared the player’s attributes to those produced by Ryan Giggs during the 14 years he spent at United. Very much like Ryan Giggs, Di Maria has a direct approach to his play. He does not use tricks to go past players.
