Barcelona is spending as much of the 222 million Euro transfer fee for the reluctant transfer or Neymar Jr as they can in a bid to shore up their weaknesses. The transfers of Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande and Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund cost the club a combined 150 million Euro. However, nothing matches the pursuit of Coutinho from Liverpool, whom until now have resisted any overtures for the star. According to reports, Liverpool has finally agreed to a whopping 148.5 million Pound transfer the player.
Barca’s sporting director hinted at an impending announcement of a transfer of at least one and maybe another player:
“We are negotiating with a player with the possibility that he can arrive. We hope it ends well. We hope to be able to present a new player. One could arrive, or two could arrive. We are negotiating. My intention is that another player arrives and if possible two.”
Coutinho has been trying to force Liverpool to let him go. He has not played a single minute this season, complaining of constant back pains. The reports go on to say that the announcement is pending one from Liverpool who wants to announce his replacement first.
Anfield is said to be in the final stages of signing both Monaco’s exciting young winger Thomas Lemar and Arsenal’s disgruntled utility man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Reds want to placate fans by announcing the replacements before making Coutinho’s transfer to Barcelona public.
