Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo is not happy with new boss, Rafael Benitez, and in particular, his training methods and tactics.
Reportedly, Benitez’s procedures are far stricter than that of Carlo Ancelotti, who did not put players through as many drills as the former is doing.
Yet more than anything and as reported by Marca, Ronaldo is not pleased with the way Rafael Benitez is favoring Gareth Bale in a central role which will not only affect his style of play but also the number of goals he scores.
Of course, the problem for Benitez is to accommodate both players in the same starting eleven since they are very similar. What makes matters worse is that a number of people believe that playing one of them alongside James Rodriguez will actually benefit the team as a whole.
In comparison to last season where Ronaldo scored 61 goals in 54 appearances, he has only found the net only once in five pre-season appearances and the La Liga season opener.
And now that Ronaldo is 30 years old and will turn 31 soon, it’s clear that Benitez is planning to phase him out and replace him with Bale as Madrid’s main attacking threat.
Yet this transitional phase is not yielding the results as it should since Madrid isn’t able to score as many goals as they should. In addition, Karim Benzema’s injury has been another issue since his link up play with Ronaldo has been important to Madrid’s forward play.
It goes without saying that no matter what the problem is Benitez will have to sort it out or face the displeasure of Florentino Perez sooner than otherwise.
