Iker Casillas has has recently came head to head with Andoni Zubizarreta’s record for the most wins recorded in the history of La Liga. Real Madrid is however considering the transfer of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea to come to play for the spanish team.
De Gea’s contract with United is set to expire next summer. In the meantime the Spanish player has been considerably linked with La Liga. Graham Hunter, however, believes that Real would need to come to a decision regarding the future of their present goalkeeper. The path of Iker Casillas has been an impressive on as well. He has among others, won 5 La Liga titles and three Champions League during his sixteen years of career.
Many have speculated that Real Madrid is more than willing to sign de Gea but they do not yet know the exact outcome especially considering the events between Diego Lopez and Casillas the previous season. De Gea has yielded a great performance for United this season. However, Real does not want to dwell into the constant speculation as to whether De Gea and Casillas would be able to work well together or not.
If Real Madrid is determined on acquiring De Gea from United, then the decision lies solely with them now. Following De Gea’s incredible performance with Manchester United ever since he left Atletico Madrid in 2011, the goalkeepers has been one of the most sought-after in the world. As for Casillas, he is bent on keeping his goalkeeper position within Real.
